President William Ruto on Friday, October 10, visited the home of the late former President Daniel arap Moi in Kabarak, Nakuru County, where he was received by KANU chairman Gideon Moi.

The president arrived at the vast Kabarak farm in the afternoon and was warmly welcomed by Gideon and other KANU officials. His first stop was the mausoleum of the late Daniel Moi, where he laid a wreath of flowers and paid his respects to the country’s second president.

Afterward, he proceeded to a private meeting with Gideon in what appeared to be a significant political engagement.

The visit came just a day after Ruto hosted Gideon at State House in Nairobi, a meeting that sparked speculation about renewed political cooperation between the two leaders. Sources close to both sides say their discussions focused on matters of national unity and development.

Gideon, who served as Baringo senator for two terms between 2013 and 2022, has maintained a low political profile since stepping back from elective politics.

He had earlier explained that his decision to withdraw from the 2022 senatorial race came after consultations with President Ruto, emphasizing the need for harmony and collective progress in Baringo.

Observers view the Kabarak meeting as a symbolic gesture aimed at bridging long-standing political divides between the Ruto and Moi families.

The two leaders were once on opposing sides during the heated 2022 election campaigns but have recently shown signs of reconciliation.

Ruto’s visit also carried sentimental value, as it marked his first official appearance at the late President Moi’s home since taking office.

The quiet yet powerful meeting has stirred political conversations across the Rift Valley, with many interpreting it as a step toward building broader alliances ahead of future national engagements.
