Leaders from three opposition parties have rejected former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s proposal that they dissolve their political parties and join the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
Justin Muturi, Peter Munya, and Lenny Kivuti said they are not ready to disband their parties. Instead, they called on Gachagua to respect the independence of every political outfit within the opposition.
The three leaders argued that a strong coalition does not require member parties to lose their identities. They maintained that different political parties can work together under one alliance while keeping their own structures and leadership.
They also urged Gachagua to avoid statements that could create unnecessary divisions within the opposition. According to the leaders, the main goal should be building unity through consultation and mutual respect rather than demanding that other parties merge into one.
