A dramatic scene unfolded at the rural home of Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Kihara in Maraigushu after auctioneers stormed the property and carted away her 127 sheep and an old model Toyota Prado.

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, October 9, 2025, while the MP was attending parliamentary business in Nairobi.

According to witnesses, the auctioneers arrived early in the morning accompanied by local law enforcement officers.

They presented legal documents believed to be a court order authorizing the seizure of the livestock and the vehicle over an alleged unsettled financial dispute.

Neighbors said the team spent several hours rounding up the animals before loading them onto trucks.

Speaking to journalists after rushing back from Nairobi, a visibly distressed Jayne Kihara condemned the raid, terming it unlawful and politically motivated.

Naivasha MP Jane Kihara claimed that no prior notice was issued before the auctioneers invaded her farm.

“I was in Nairobi when I received a call that people had invaded my home. They took everything — my livestock, my car — without any official communication. This is harassment,” she said.

Jane Kihara, a second-term legislator known for her firm stance on land and agricultural matters, accused unnamed individuals of using legal loopholes to intimidate her politically.

She vowed to take legal action, saying her lawyers were already investigating the circumstances surrounding the raid.

Sources close to the MP, however, indicated that the seizure may have stemmed from a long-standing commercial dispute involving unpaid loans and property securities.

The specifics of the case remain unclear, as neither the auctioneers nor the financial institution involved had issued a public statement by press time.

Residents of Maraigushu expressed mixed reactions to the incident. Some sympathized with the MP, saying the manner in which the operation was conducted was humiliating.

Others argued that no one, including public officials, should be above the law when it comes to debt enforcement.

MP Jane Kihara’s raid has sparked discussions about the accountability of public leaders and the transparency of debt recovery processes in Kenya.

Many have called on authorities to ensure that such actions follow due process to avoid perceptions of bias or political persecution.

But even as investigations continue, MP Jayne Kihara has maintained her innocence, insisting that the matter will soon be resolved through legal channels.
