A heated debate is growing online after some Tanzanian lawmakers made harsh comments about Kenyans. This came after claims that some Kenyans were insulting Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan on social media. In response, a section of Kenyans is now thinking about boycotting Tanzanian music.

The issue has caused a big buzz, especially on X (formerly Twitter), where hashtags and opinions are flying. Some Kenyans feel disrespected and say they want nothing to do with Tanzanian artists anymore. “We can support our own,” one user wrote. Others feel it’s time to show unity and stop supporting those who don’t respect them.

However, not everyone agrees with this reaction. A good number of people have come forward to defend Tanzanian musicians. They say the artists have done nothing wrong and should not be blamed for the words of politicians. “Music should unite, not divide,” one Kenyan fan said.

Tanzanian artists like Diamond Platnumz, Zuchu, and Harmonize have large fan bases in Kenya. Many fans feel that music is a form of peace and should not be used in political battles.

As the debate continues, one thing is clear music has power. Whether it brings people together or pulls them apart depends on how it’s handled.
