A fresh political debate has emerged after remarks by politician Barasa suggesting that former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala could soon make his way back to government circles.

Speaking during a political discussion Barasa claimed that Malala is preparing to return to the government arguing that the former senator is uncomfortable remaining in political spaces that lack influence and access to power.

According to Barasa Malala has historically aligned himself with political formations that place him close to the centre of decision making.

He alleged that the former United Democratic Alliance Secretary-General may not stay in the opposition for long as he is accustomed to operating within government structures.

The remarks have sparked renewed speculation over Malala’s political future especially following his recent fallout with sections of the ruling establishment.

Since leaving his influential position within the ruling party Malala has increasingly associated himself with leaders critical of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Political observers argue that shifting alliances are common in Kenyan politics particularly as the country gradually moves towards the 2027 General Election.

Leaders often reassess their positions based on changing political realities regional interests and personal ambitions.

Despite Barasa’s claims Malala has not publicly indicated any intention to rejoin the government.

Instead he has maintained a visible presence in opposition activities and has continued to criticize certain government policies.

The comments nevertheless highlight the fluid nature of Kenya’s political landscape where alliances can change rapidly depending on prevailing circumstances.

Whether Malala eventually returns to the government or remains within opposition ranks remains a matter of political speculation.

As preparations for the next general election gather momentum statements from influential politicians are expected to continue shaping public debate and fueling discussions about possible realignments across the political divide.
