Locals are now demanding the scrubbing of the police station, which they think will drive away the angel of death.

The calls follow a troubling trend of police officers assigned to the station being discovered dead under strange circumstances.

In the previous three years, at least four officers from the Kiungani Police Station have died in circumstances that locals find strange.

The most recent occurrence was reported on Tuesday, October 7, when an officer’s deceased body was discovered inside his rented home.

In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, Kiminini sub-county police commander Stephen Mwaniki revealed that the officer’s body was discovered laying on his bed, in a rented property following a search undertaken by his colleagues after he was last seen on duty.

“Our curious officers on duty became concerned and inquired as to why he did not report for duty as usual. When they got to his residence, they discovered that it was locked from the inside.

They looked through the window and discovered he wasn’t answering. Finally, they decided to burst the door and discovered he was dead,” Mwaniki explained.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have already begun investigations to determine the cause of his death.

The police chief stated that once the cause of the officer’s death is determined, it will be made public to the concerned residents.

“It is too early to determine the reason of his death because investigations are ongoing. DCI officers are on the ground, conducting investigations.

“We will notify the public as soon as we receive the results of the investigations because there is nothing to hide,” stated the sub-county police commander.

The body of the deceased law enforcement officer was removed and transported to the Kiminini Cottage Hospital morgue for preservation while awaiting a postmortem.

This is the fourth occurrence in which a police officer has died at the Kiungani Police Station. Last month, another male police officer committed suicide.

He didn’t leave a note explaining his conduct. Because of the concerning trend, locals are urging spiritual leaders to visit the police station on the busy Kitale-Webuye Highway for prayers and cleansing.

“That police station needs cleansing, and that is why our elders and the clergy should go there and chase away the angel of death,” according to Ronald Mokaya, a local.
