Mount Kenya has reaped significant benefits following the announcement of the first batch of the new Cabinet Ministry, which consists of eleven members. Out of these, six slots were awarded to representatives from the Mount Kenya region. There are expectations for additional appointments in the second batch, which will be announced soon.
This development follows a warning from Nyeri County Governor Mutahi Kahiga, who cautioned President William Ruto about a potential fallout with Mount Kenya residents if he failed to retain eight cabinet positions, as in the previous administration.
Amid these announcement, Kiambu County Senator Karung’o Wa Thang’wa praised President Ruto, asserting that the Mount Kenya representatives were not problematic in the previous cabinet. He noted that there were no calls for the resignation of officials like Kindiki, Wahome, and Miano, who served diligently and will continue to work towards achieving Kenya Kwanza’s transformation agendas.
Reflecting on the country’s experiences over the past three weeks, marked by the rejection of the finance bill—a mistake attributed to MPs, Kiambu County Senator Karung’o Wa Thang’wa has urged Members of Parliament to respect the will of the people during the vetting process. He argued that to prevent future chaos, if Kenyans request the rejection of a Cabinet Secretary nominee during vetting, Parliament should comply with it by rejecting and move on.
He further stated that members of the National Assembly should not follow the directives of their political leaders but instead listen to the people of Kenya, who are directly affected by these initiatives. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/hexuiPacfUZ86JAP/?mibextid=oFDknk
