Team Kenya has stolen the spotlight at the ongoing Eastern Africa Police Chief Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) Games in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, delivering a series of powerhouse performances across both track and field events.Leading the golden charge were Abel Kipsang and Daniel Simiu Ebenyo. Kipsang, fresh off his 2022 World Indoor bronze, dominated the 1500m event with poise, precision, leaving his rivals trailing behind.
Moments later, Ebenyo, the reigning Bathurst World Cross Country champion, electrified the Abebe Bikila Stadium with a decisive kick in the final lap of the 10,000m, seizing gold.
Joseph Kiptum, also from Kenya, followed closely to clinch silver.
The Kenyan women’s 100m team was unstoppable—Millicent Ndoro claimed gold, with Eunice Kadogo and Monicah Safania securing silver and bronze in a full podium sweep that underscored their sprinting prowess.
The men’s 100m was equally thrilling, with Ronald Koech dashing to gold and George Njenga adding a bronze to the tally.In the 400m men’s final, Erastus Mbaluka powered through from start to finish, asserting dominance and bagging yet another gold for Kenya.
William Rayian followed with a bronze finish, while an Ethiopian athlete salvaged silver for the hosts.
Gloria Chepchumba and Joan Cherono brought more medals home in the women’s 400m, winning gold and bronze, respectively.
Kenya’s field athletes also delivered. Roseline Rakamba secured gold in women’s discus with a commanding performance, and javelin star Duncan Kinyanjui stunned the crowd with an impressive second throw that shut out the competition.
As of now, Kenya tops the medal standings with 9 gold, 4 silver, and 7 bronze. With more events ahead, the team’s momentum shows no signs of slowing.
