Kenyan actress and digital content creator Dorea Chege has, for the first time, opened up about her deeply personal and painful battle with fibroids, a health struggle she had chosen to keep private.
Dorea shared her story during an emotional conversation with gospel music duo Wapendwa Muziki, where she reflected on her pregnancy and delivery experience.
In the video uploaded on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, on Wapendwa’s YouTube channel, the actress revealed that she had been diagnosed with five large fibroids during her pregnancy.
According to Dorea, the fibroids were in critical positions, with some blocking her cervix and others surrounding her womb.
This made her pregnancy extremely difficult and turned what she had hoped would be a natural delivery into a painful and frightening ordeal.
She disclosed that she experienced intense pain as doctors initially attempted to allow her to give birth naturally.
However, complications quickly arose, forcing doctors to perform an emergency Caesarean section to save both her life and that of her baby.
During the same surgery, the doctors also removed the fibroids due to their severity. Dorea recalled spending a long time in the operating theatre as medical professionals worked through the complex procedure and ensured her recovery.
During the discussion, Wapendwa Muziki member Ninah’s husband, Mesh, explained that doctors had similarly ruled out natural delivery in Ninah’s case because fibroids had blocked her cervix.
“Daktari alisema hatuwe tukampata through normal, the fibroids ilienda ikablock cervix,” Mesh said, highlighting how dangerous the situation was.
Ninah also shared her own experience, noting that although she had only one fibroid, it still caused serious complications by blocking her cervix and interfering with delivery.
By sharing her story, Dorea Chege has helped shed light on fibroids, a condition that affects many women but is often suffered in silence.
Her openness has been praised by fans, many of whom say her testimony will encourage other women to seek medical help and speak openly about reproductive health challenges.
