The parents of the KCB Bank senior official Rosemary Chemutai Koech Kimwatu have finally spoken after a lot of guessing and talking about their daughters death.
Rosemary worked as the head of data protection for KCB Bank Group. She passed away at her home in Ngong. People who knew her are sad. Are missing her.
Her death led to talks on media about what happened and some claims about the company she worked for.
A message on WhatsApp shared by X user Maina Ndegwa on Monday, August 24 said the family did not agree with the stories
The message said that Rosemarys parents had no problems with how KCB treated their daughter during her time at the bank.
According to the message the bank helped Rosemary when she was sick and also supported the family after she died.
The family thanked the bank for the help. They made it clear that the stories online did not show their real feelings.
“Any stories that are going around do not show what the family thinks ” the message said.
The family also asked people to let them grieve without arguments.
“They want to grieve for their child in peace ” the message said.
Rosemary was known for her work in data protection and digital rights in Kenya. She had twenty years of experience in law, fintech and public policy.
Many groups, including KICTANet, the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner and the Data Privacy and Governance Society of Kenya honored her work.
Her death made people in her field express their sadness. They called her a voice in Kenyas growing digital rights area.
As more guessing continued online her parents message tried to show that the familys views were different, from the stories and they asked Kenyans to respect their feelings.
