Azziad Nasenya capped off a turbulent 2025 with a symbolic gesture of resilience, during her trip to the United States.
The Kenyan content creator and actress had faced intense scrutiny earlier in the year after debt allegations surfaced online, with friends and influencers publicly accusing her of defaulting on substantial loans.
At one point, her four-bedroom Kileleshwa home, valued at KSh 25 million, was reportedly put up for auction, prompting widespread concern and mixed reactions from fans and the public.
The controversy began when TikToker and businesswoman Mary Musyoka demanded repayment of KSh 300,000, a loan she claimed Azziad had not settled.
Skeptics initially doubted the claims, fearing reputational damage for the star, but soon, other influencers, including TikTok dancer Tileh Pacbro, shared evidence of loans being repaid, escalating the drama online.
Amid the chaos, Azziad found a moment of personal empowerment during her US trip, which coincided with speculation that her Emmy-nominated show and potential acting opportunities in America might have influenced her travels.
In a video shared on TikTok, she documented her tattoo journey in New York, narrating her excitement despite a tight schedule.
She scouted two studios and eventually got a tattoo that reflected her rebirth from past struggles.
“So we are done, if you notice, I am a phoenix, I have risen. If you get it you get it, if you don’t, forget about it.
We got a tattoo in New York,” she said, emphasizing the symbolism behind the design. The phoenix, a classic emblem of resurgence, serves as a personal reminder of her ability to rise from adversity and continue moving forward, turning a challenging year into a moment of empowerment and self-expression
