Shortly after Diana Chepkemoi returned safely to her home country, investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations saved some young girls who were being trafficked to the Gulf. Following Diana Chepkemoi’s testimony, the girls were saved before they could be flown out of the country, to Saudi Arabia, which is now a notorious name in Kenya.
Immediately following the DCI’s rescue, a blogger resorted to social media to accuse Kenyan musician Akothee of being involved in the trafficking of girls to the Gulf nations. The blogger argued that Akothee’s wealth was primarily due to her role in people trafficking rather than her success as a musician.
In her respond, Akothee viciously attacked the blogger and dared them to report her to the DCI.
She sarcastically retorted that she’s been recruiting and sending girls there, because music wasn’t earning her much.
“You are dead right on this. Music doesn’t pay well and I have to maintain my luxurious lifestyle. Your girls must suffer for me to pay my bills,” she retorted.
