On Sunday, 24th, May 2026, a man went viral across various social media platforms, after walking up to President William Ruto during a public address in Kilifi County.
The incident happened when the man got close to the President before he briefly clinged on him while he was speaking at a public event, sparking brief concern over a possible security lapse. The moment spread quickly online and later led to a review of procedures by the Presidential Security Unit.
In regards to the matter, attention has now shifted to the positive outcome for the man involved after he landed a prestigious role at the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).
In a post on its official Facebook page on Monday 25th May, 2026, KPA confirmed that the man has now been officially hired, saying he showed potential and was found fit for a role at the agency.
Even though details of the job that the man has been given at the KPA remain scanty, it has been established that after the man dodged Ruto’s security personnel and found himself at the podium, he begged for a job from the Head of State, who further gave an assurance that he would sort the man out.
The incident however prompted security agencies to tighten measures around the President’s public appearances as it was not the first time a similar controversial incident was witnessed in full public glare
