President William Ruto on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, visited Ololulunga in Narok East, where he was welcomed by a massive crowd during an engagement centred on a promise he had made to a local Mama Mboga.
Ruto made a stop at the local market, where he interacted with traders and listened to their concerns. The President also heard directly from a Mama Mboga, underscoring his administration’s continued focus on small-scale traders and people working in the informal sector.
The President’s appearance attracted a large gathering, with residents lining the streets and surrounding the area to catch a glimpse of him. As the crowd grew, Ruto addressed the people from the top of a building, creating one of the most notable moments of his visit to Ololulunga.
Dennis Itumbi, Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordination in the Executive Office of the President, highlighted the encounter in a social media post. Itumbi portrayed the visit as a moment when Ruto returned to demonstrate that a commitment made to a Mama Mboga had been fulfilled.
“A man, standing on a promise delivered to MAMA MBOGA and endorsed by a large crowd in Ololulunga, Narok East, that agrees he kept the promise,” Itumbi said.
According to Itumbi, the President also took time to listen to another Mama Mboga at the market. He described the interaction as further evidence of Ruto’s continued engagement with ordinary Kenyans at the grassroots level.
“Promise made. Promise Kept,” Itumbi stated, before adding, “Sina mengi ya kusema kwa sasa.” His remarks appeared intended to let the images of the President’s interaction with traders and the reception from the crowd speak for themselves.
The Ololulunga visit comes as Ruto continues to strengthen his engagement with grassroots communities across the country. His administration has consistently promoted the interests of Mama Mbogas, small traders and other informal-sector workers as part of its economic agenda.
The large turnout in Narok East also gives the visit political significance as Kenya moves closer to the 2027 General Election. Ruto’s increasingly frequent grassroots engagements provide him with an opportunity to showcase projects, highlight fulfilled commitments and directly connect with voters.
