Kalonzo

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka joked that he feared being mistaken for a UDA defector after posing for photos with members of a Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) church choir wearing yellow-like uniforms.

During a church event, Kalonzo recounted hesitating to take pictures with the choir because the colour of their outfits resembled yellow, the signature colour of President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

He joked that the photos could spark rumours that he had joined Ruto’s party, highlighting how even a simple church photograph can attract political interpretations in Kenya.

The lighthearted moment came as Kalonzo received a gift from a young choir member. Despite his concerns about the photographs, he acknowledged the choir’s performance and appreciated the presentation.

Kalonzo remains a leading opposition figure and heads the Wiper party, which has continued to mobilise support across the country.

His remarks drew humour from the connection between party colours and political allegiance, suggesting that even ordinary public appearances can become the subject of speculation.
