The nexus between constable James Mukwana and slain teacher Albert Ojwang has finally been revealed by lead investigating officer Abraham Jibril through court documents seen by members of the forth estate.
According to the charge sheet presented by Mr Abraham Jibril, constable James Mukwana was the person in possession of cell keys where the late Ojwang’ had been held.
As the only person who had access to the cell keys, the ball has rolled back at him to explain why Ojwang who was alive at the time he was put into the cell was found dead a few hours later.
The investigating officer Abraham Jibril has also accused James Mukwana of tampering with CCTV connection data cables at the Central Police Station.
The prosecution is seeking permission to hold the suspect for 21 days to allow conclusion of ongoing investigations.
A technician believed to have been hired by a police officer at Central Police Station to delete Closed Circuit Television ( CCTV ) footage of that night’s events has also been arrested and has admitted to have been paid KES 3,000 for the job.
Lawyers representing James Mukwana are opposing IPOA’s petition to hold him for 21 days. They want Mukhwana to be released on bail.
By the time of going to press, involved parties were still making submissions before the judge who is expected to rule in bail terms.
