Robert Alai is once again stirring the pot in Kenya’s political arena with a bold take that has ignited strong reactions online. According to the controversial MCA, the political landscape is divided into two: parrots and strategists.

In his view, Junet Mohamed, John Mbadi, and Hassan Joho fall under the strategist category, while James Orengo and Edwin Sifuna are nothing more than parrots. That’s right — parrots.

In a Facebook post that’s quickly gone viral check it out here, Alai appears to call on Kenyans to choose wisely who they listen to in political discourse. But the comments section exploded with criticism and satire, some users clearly unimpressed by what they called “atavistic” reasoning.

One netizen, Victor, pointed out the irony of labeling those who align with the government as strategists while dismissing critics as parrots — an observation that quickly gained support.

Another user, Nyakwar, lashed out questioning Alai’s credibility, mocking his status as a “mere MCA elected on sympathy votes” now attempting to lecture a sitting governor and senator. Others took a more humorous route, with one comment turning into a mock exam question: “Why did the nduthu guy choose Alai’s wife?” with a cheeky promise of 200 marks.

Peter Kiumbi wrapped it up best with a zinger: “Which category are you? Or could you be the strategist owl?” As expected, Alai’s post has not just divided opinions but once again proved that in Kenyan politics, nothing sparks a reaction quite like a controversial label from a loud voice.
