The transport venture associated with President William Ruto’s son, George Ruto, appears to be expanding after Raptor Fam introduced a new project known as 98 Logistics.
The team behind George’s highly customised matatu fleet shared images on Instagram showing several vehicles inside a garage being fitted with branding for the new project.
“The Raptor family expands. We bring you a new project known as 98 LOGISTICS,” Raptor Fam announced.
The post was shared alongside a new Instagram account operating under the name 98 Logistics, although no detailed information was provided about the venture.
New project raises questions
The images show several matatus receiving the 98 Logistics livery, with the vehicles appearing different from some of the customised units previously associated with Raptor Fam.
It remains unclear whether 98 Logistics will operate as an independent transport company, expand George’s existing fleet or venture into a different area of the logistics business.
The team has also not disclosed the routes the vehicles will serve, the size of the planned fleet or whether the project will operate under an existing public service vehicle (PSV) structure.
George’s growing presence in matatu industry
George has increasingly attracted attention in Nairobi’s matatu industry through Raptor Fam and its distinctive fleet of customised vehicles.
The brand has been associated with several high-end matatus, including Raptor, Money Fest, Matrix, Mood, Manifest and Baba Yaga.
One of the most notable vehicles is Mood, a 25-seater matatu fitted with features such as a DJ booth, bucket seats, charging ports and a large television screen.
98 brand continues to grow
The unveiling of 98 Logistics comes months after the launch of 98 SACCO, adding to speculation that the 98 brand could be developing into a broader transport venture.
However, Raptor Fam has yet to explain how the new project will be structured or whether it will focus solely on passenger transport.
For now, the branding work seen in the garage suggests that preparations for the latest addition to the Raptor Fam stable are already underway, as George’s footprint in Kenya’s highly competitive matatu industry continues to expand.
