Opposition leader Raila Odinga has called upon MPs affiliated with the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party to reject the contentious Finance Bill 2023.
But Gachagua has hit out at Odinga over his constant opposition to the Finance Bill 2023 which among other things proposes the introduction of the controversial Housing fund.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Raila Azimio coalition has directed all our MPs to vehemently oppose the bill.
DP Gachagua who spoke in Nyeri on Thursday insisted that Bill is good for the country, claiming that all Kenyans of goodwill were in support of the bill apart from the Opposition leader.
“The Azimio coalition has directed all our MPs to vehemently oppose the bill. The electorate should watch keenly for legislators who will support the bill because that will be betrayal to Kenyans,” said Raila.
While reiterating that Odinga has always opposed any ‘good’ proposal for the nation, saying all Kenya Kwanza MPs are behind President William Ruto’s Finance Bill.
The Azimio coalition now wants the Finance Bill 2023 withdrawn saying its proposals will burden Kenyans who are already facing harsh economic times.
“Wajumbe wote wa Kenya Kwanza wako nyuma ya rais kwa mambo ya Finance Bill. Yule mtu anapinga ni Raila, na huyo hupinga kila kitu,” he said.
The controversial bill is scheduled to be tabled in parliament with a political showdown anticipated between the Azimio and Kenya Kwanza legislators who have differed on some of the proposals.
“Ukiona kitu Raila anapinga hicho ni kitu kizuri. Raila akikwambia mkutane Nyandarua, usiende Nyandarua, mngoje Kirinyaga. Yeye ndio anapinga na kukoroga watu.”
