The family of veteran politician Cyrus Jirongo recently gathered at AIC Milimani Church in Nairobi for the requiem mass of Lorraine Jelagat, who passed away at the age of 33 after a short illness.
The solemn occasion brought together members of Jirongo’s polygamous family, who shared their grief and support for one another.
During the service, Jirongo took a moment to introduce his children to the mourners, proudly highlighting their diverse careers. He noted that despite coming from different mothers, his children were raised together under the care of his current wife, Anne Jirongo.
In a lighthearted yet heartfelt moment, Jirongo humorously described himself as a man with “big eyes and bad manners” but insisted that his children should not inherit the latter trait. He emphasized their intelligence and strength, traits he believes they got from him.
As he invited them to introduce themselves, Kenyans were impressed by the remarkable professional achievements of Jirongo’s children.
Among them, Ruby Jirongo is an architect, Leon Jirongo is a journalist, and Tanya Nyambura is an economist. Nicole Jirongo is an intern counselor, while Claria Khalamwa specializes in communication.
Sharon Jirongo works as an accountant, Sonia Jirongo is a businesswoman, Timothy Jirongo is a businessman, and Judy Khalamwa is in the construction industry.
The moment not only highlighted Jirongo’s pride in his children but also served as an inspiration to many Kenyans, showcasing the importance of education and hard work. Despite the sorrow of losing their sister, the unity and accomplishments of the Jirongo family stood out, leaving many in admiration.
