A thoughtful message shared by advocate Wahome Thuku has sparked discussion ahead of a major political event involving Edwin W. Sifuna.

In an early morning Facebook post, Wahome addressed Sifuna as a brother and colleague, choosing the quiet hours before dawn to deliver what he described as his most important message.

He noted that while previous conversations were casual, this moment called for seriousness and reflection.

Wahome told Sifuna that favour had found him, describing it as a rare gift that often comes with divine involvement.

He observed that what Sifuna currently enjoys—public goodwill, popularity, influence and a promising future—is something many politicians around the world spend their entire careers pursuing.

He praised Sifuna as young, educated, articulate and non-tribal, qualities he said are in short supply in Kenyan politics. According to Wahome, the country has long suffered from a lack of honourable leadership, a reality that becomes evident whenever leaders interact with ordinary citizens.

However, Wahome warned that favour is fragile. He stressed that how one handles popularity, admiration and near hero worship determines how long it lasts.

From how a leader speaks and walks, to how they dress, eat and relate with others, every detail matters once the spotlight turns on.

He cautioned that favour can disappear as quickly as it arrives and reminded Sifuna that lost moments rarely return.

In his view, power and influence reveal true character, and misuse can permanently damage a promising political journey.

Wahome strongly advised against personalised politics. He urged Sifuna never to frame leadership around “me” or “my candidate,” nor to speak as if authority is self-given.

He discouraged language that suggests personal ownership of the country, communities or political outcomes.

Concluding his message, Wahome expressed hope that as Sifuna rises, the public will continue to see the same humble character they admire today.

The message comes as Sifuna is expected to lead a Linda Mwananchi rally in Kakamega on Saturday, an event likely to draw significant public attention.
