Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday used the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference (NDC) to deliver a blunt lecture to former deputy Rigathi Gachagua, warning him against allowing bitterness and anger to define his politics.

Addressing party delegates in Nairobi, Kenyatta emphasized that politics should be guided by vision, service, and unity rather than personal vendettas. He reminded leaders that the responsibility of politics is to bring people together and create solutions, not to sow division.

“In politics, you cannot be led by bitterness, anger, and hate. Leadership requires wisdom and maturity, not constant fights and grudges,” Kenyatta said, in remarks widely interpreted as a response to Gachagua’s recent criticism of him.

The former President accused some leaders of turning politics into a platform for insults instead of development. He urged Kenyans, particularly the youth, to reject divisive politics and demand leaders who prioritize issues that affect daily lives such as jobs, health care, and education.

Kenyatta’s strong words come amid rising tensions in Mt. Kenya, where Gachagua has frequently accused him of meddling in regional affairs despite his retirement. Kenyatta dismissed the accusations, saying he has no interest in political squabbles but will always speak out against hatred.

Political analysts noted that the remarks marked a rare but deliberate comeback for Kenyatta in shaping Jubilee’s direction. His speech was met with cheers from delegates, who welcomed his call for peace and unity.

“The future of Kenya cannot be built on anger. It must be built on hope,” Kenyatta concluded.
