Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, has shared details of a terrifying incident that happened during his flight to Nairobi. The lawmaker revealed that the plane he was aboard circled in the air for close to 40 minutes after pilots failed to land due to poor weather conditions.

The flight had been smooth until the plane approached Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. According to Salasya, heavy clouds and low visibility made it impossible for the pilots to land safely. The aircraft was forced to keep hovering as the crew waited for clearance and safer landing conditions.

The situation left passengers unsettled as the aircraft kept making rounds in the sky. The prolonged delay sparked fear that the plane could eventually run out of fuel if the weather did not improve. Salasya admitted that, at some point, he began to consider the possibility of a disaster.

During the tense moments, the MP turned to prayer, silently asking God to intervene and allow the journey to end safely. He reflected on his role as a public servant and felt his mission in leadership was not yet complete. His faith, he said, gave him strength to remain calm even when others appeared nervous.

After nearly an hour of suspense, the pilots diverted the plane to Embakasi where they were finally able to land safely. Relief quickly spread among the passengers as they disembarked, grateful that the ordeal had not ended tragically.

Salasya later expressed his gratitude to God and the flight crew for ensuring their safety. He described the experience as a reminder of how fragile life can be and how quickly circumstances can change. He added that the incident strengthened his resolve to serve Kenyans faithfully, knowing that every day is a gift.
