Former CS Fred Matiang’i and Senator Onyonka on Friday joined family members, friends and residents of Nyamira County to bid farewell to the late Pastor Nyabuto Mochoge.The two leaders attended the burial ceremony at Tindereti Settlement Scheme in Nyansiongo Ward, Borabu Constituency, where mourners gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the renowned clergyman.
Matiang’i paid tribute to Pastor Mochoge, describing him as a distinguished leader whose life was defined by service, faith and commitment to the community.
Pastor Mochoge’s career spanned more than four decades and covered several fields, including insurance, missionary work, academia, health administration, pastoral ministry and humanitarian service.
He was also recognised for his contribution to interreligious leadership, where he worked with people from different faith backgrounds in promoting cooperation and service to the community.
A devoted member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Mochoge was remembered as a man who remained committed to his Christian faith while dedicating his life to helping others.Matiang’i also conveyed his condolences to Mochoge’s family, including his wife Mama Jane Moraa, the children, Mzee Josiah Ogati and Mama Pauline Nyangarisa.
He asked the family to remain strong as they mourned their loved one, while acknowledging the pain that comes with losing a person who played an important role in the lives of many people.
The burial brought together political leaders, religious figures, relatives and members of the community, reflecting the broad impact Mochoge had during his lifetime.
His death marks the end of a long chapter of service, but his contribution to faith, leadership and community development is expected to remain a lasting part of his legacy.
