Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has urged senator Edwin Sifuna to forge a pact with the united opposition principals ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a rally in Nyamira County hosted by former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, the Trans Nzoia Governor warned that any move by Sifuna’s camp to go solo would split the opposition vote and hand President William Ruto an easy path to re-election.
Natembeya noted that the opposition must rally behind a single presidential candidate to avoid dividing support, arguing that unity remains their strongest weapon against the Kenya Kwanza administration.
He claimed that the Western region alone commands over four million votes, which he said would overwhelmingly back an opposition candidate if leaders agree on one flagbearer.
His remarks come at a time when Sifuna’s political star appears to be rising, marked by huge turnouts at his recent rallies and growing influence within the opposition ranks.
A recent incident where teargas was lobbed moments before he addressed supporters further thrust him into the national spotlight, with allies terming it an attempt to intimidate those opposing the government.
