Police in Nairobi have intensified operations against the illegal drug trade, with the latest crackdown in Kahawa West resulting in the arrest of three people suspected of involvement in the distribution of narcotics.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), officers conducting an operation in the area recovered a substantial quantity of suspected cannabis in different forms. The seizure included more than 600 rolls of the substance that were allegedly prepared for distribution.

Police also reported recovering pieces of cookies suspected to contain cannabis, alongside approximately two kilograms of unprocessed suspected cannabis. The recovery has prompted further investigations into the suspected supply and distribution networks operating within the area.

The operation also uncovered electronic devices believed to have been stolen. Their recovery has widened the scope of the investigations as detectives seek to establish where the devices came from and whether they are connected to other criminal activities.

The arrests form part of ongoing security operations in Nairobi targeting individuals suspected of facilitating the illegal drug trade and other offences associated with criminal networks.

Rather than focusing solely on the seizure of narcotics, police are also seeking to establish the wider networks involved in obtaining, processing, distributing and selling illegal substances. Investigators are expected to examine the evidence recovered during the operation to determine whether the suspects could be linked to additional offences.

The presence of suspected stolen electronic devices has further raised questions about possible links between drug-related activities and other forms of crime in the area. Police investigations will therefore seek to establish the circumstances under which the devices were acquired and whether their owners can be traced.

The three suspects were taken into police custody and are expected to undergo the necessary processing before being presented in court to face relevant charges.

The latest operation underscores the continued efforts by security agencies to disrupt the illegal drug market in Nairobi while pursuing individuals and networks suspected of supporting related criminal activities.

Authorities have continued to encourage members of the public to share information that can assist security agencies in identifying and disrupting criminal networks operating within their communities. Source
