It was a cold-blooded killing that shocked the nation. Former Kilifi Deputy Governor Kenneth Kamto was gunned down in the dead of night inside his posh Nyali home on December 12, 2018. The attackers struck at 2 am, firing a single fatal shot from close range near his entrance. Kamto, who had once served as ODM’s Kilifi chairman before joining Jubilee, was targeted just a year after losing the 2017 election as Gideon Mung’aro’s running mate.

For years, the case dragged on, leaving a grieving family and unanswered questions. But on January 14, 2025, justice finally knocked. Shanzu Magistrate Court handed a verdict that ended the long wait for closure.

Julius Gitonga M’muguu and Joseph Amwayi Mukabana were found guilty of robbery with violence, handling stolen property, and illegal firearm possession—all tied to the murder. The judgment confirmed what Kamto’s family feared: this was not a random act of violence. It was a calculated execution.

However, in a twist, a third suspect—Florence Mbithe Mwanza—was acquitted of all charges, leaving mixed feelings in the courtroom. While two are headed for sentencing, one walked free.

Kamto’s brutal death had long raised eyebrows, with many speculating about political motives and inside betrayal. Though the court didn’t confirm such theories, the conviction has revived painful memories.

Today, as his killers face justice, many still ask: what really happened that night in Nyali? And was the whole truth ever revealed?

Kamto’s name now joins a growing list of high-profile figures whose murders shook the nation—but unlike others, his case has finally seen justice served.

Don’t just scroll—share this story. Someone out there still remembers Kamto.
