Kenya’s social media scene has been taken by storm by Heha Movers, a comedy duo from Kibra whose unusual moving business jokes have attracted widespread attention.
The duo initially gained recognition through videos presenting themselves as young professionals offering web development, digital marketing and corporate branding services under the name HEHA Holdings. One of the faces featured prominently in the videos is Mr Wahio, who is introduced as a young CEO.
Their comedy journey, however, started before the Heha Movers concept. Their earlier content was linked to Kibra Laugh Industry before the creators developed the HEHA identity that audiences now associate with their viral videos.
The biggest twist came when HEHA Holdings seemingly transformed into Heha Movers, a fictional relocation company offering household and office moving services.
The duo uses exaggerated corporate language to promote the imaginary company, promising customers services that go far beyond ordinary moving. Their jokes include packing belongings, transporting goods, arranging electronics and even cooking for clients.
Their videos targeting Nairobi areas such as Westlands, Yaya and Kitisuru have helped push the comedy beyond Kibra and into the wider social media space.
In one popular joke, customers are encouraged to hand over their computer and safe passwords, leave their belongings behind and go to work while Heha Movers supposedly handles everything.
The humour comes from the absurd level of trust demanded by the fictional company while the duo maintains a serious business-like attitude.
Kenyan comedian and content creator Nicki Bigfish has also played a role in giving the comedy more visibility. Known for street comedy, pranks and viral content, Nicki has interacted with and amplified the Heha Movers craze.
The duo’s journey from portraying ambitious web developers to running a fictional moving company has turned a simple comedy idea into one of Kibra’s most talked-about social media acts.
