Reverend Kathy Kiuna has shared an emotional reflection on the pain of losing a loved one, revealing that the absence of her late husband, Bishop Allan Kiuna, remains difficult to come to terms with.
In a post shared on her Instagram page on Monday, November 2, 2026, the Jubilee Christian Church (JCC) co-founder described losing someone close as one of the most painful experiences a person can go through.
“Sometimes it hurts so bad. I think losing a loved one is one of the most painful situations one can ever encounter,” she wrote.
Kathy compared the experience of facing challenges while a loved one is still alive to dealing with their absence after death. She explained that couples can face difficult seasons together and emerge stronger, but death changes that experience because the person is no longer there.
“You see, fighting for things is easier coz you are in it together and things come and go. After every fight you get stronger anyway. When they are gone, they are gone,” she added.
She used the reflection to encourage people to appreciate those close to them, make meaningful memories, and avoid taking their relationships for granted. “Please treasure your loved ones and make great memories. Don’t take each other for granted,” she concluded.
Kathy Kiuna’s relationship with Bishop Allan
Kathy and Allan shared a marriage that lasted nearly 30 years. According to Bishop Allan’s biography published by Jubilee Christian Church, the two met in December 1993 and got married in December 1994.
Their relationship also extended into their work in ministry. In 1999, they co-founded Jubilee Christian Church, beginning with a congregation in Parklands, Nairobi, before the ministry expanded to other locations.
The couple became familiar faces in Kenya’s Christian community, often appearing together during church services and ministry events. They also raised three children: Vanessa, Stephanie and Jeremy.
Kathy has previously spoken about the close friendship and partnership she shared with her husband. In September 2026, she recalled how faith had remained the foundation of their marriage, describing their relationship as one that had endured difficult seasons.
Allan Kiuna’s battle with cancer
Bishop Allan Kiuna died on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, aged 57, while receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital.
He had been diagnosed with cancer in 2018, with Kathy publicly sharing details of his treatment journey in the years that followed. The illness and chemotherapy affected his physical health, including causing hair loss, weight changes and difficulties with walking.
In 2022, Allan travelled to the United States for further treatment. In December 2023, he announced during a thanksgiving service that he had become cancer-free, although he later died in July 2024.
His death ended a marriage and ministry partnership that had shaped much of the couple’s public life.
Kathy has since continued leading JCC while occasionally reflecting on grief, faith and the memories she shared with her husband. Her latest message also reminds people to value their loved ones while they are still together.
