Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has made a bold political declaration, indicating that he will not support President William Ruto’s bid for re-election in the 2027 General Election. His remarks have intensified speculation about his future political direction.
Speaking during a public gathering in Kiharu, Nyoro told supporters that he and his allies left the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) a long time ago. He suggested that their political journey had already taken a different path.
The lawmaker dismissed claims that politicians must associate themselves with the “Wantam” movement to prove their opposition to the current administration. He insisted that political choices should be guided by principles rather than slogans or popular political chants.
Nyoro stated, “Sisi tulitoka UDA kitambo sana. Sio lazima tushinde kwa kusema sisi ni WANTAM,” emphasizing that leaving the ruling party did not require constant public declarations or political branding to gain credibility.
His remarks are widely seen as a clear indication that he has distanced himself from President William Ruto and the ruling party. The speech is likely to fuel further debate over his position ahead of the next general election.
Although Nyoro did not formally announce which political coalition he intends to join, his comments strongly suggested that he is preparing for a new political chapter outside the current government and its leadership.
The Kiharu MP urged leaders to focus on addressing the concerns affecting ordinary Kenyans instead of spending excessive time engaging in political slogans and public rivalry. He called for issue-based leadership that delivers meaningful solutions.
Nyoro’s latest statement comes amid growing political realignments across the country, with several leaders reassessing their alliances before the 2027 elections. His position is expected to influence political calculations, particularly within the Mount Kenya region.
