Former Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki has expressed confidence that Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Sammy Ngotho is on course for victory in the upcoming Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.
Speaking during campaign engagements in the constituency, Kariuki said the response from residents has strengthened her belief that Ngotho is gaining significant support as the July 16, 2026, poll draws closer.
According to the former CS, campaign activities across Ol Kalou have attracted enthusiastic crowds, with many residents turning up to interact with the DCP team and listen to its agenda.
“There is an undeniable energy taking over the streets, the markets and the homes in Ol Kalou. It’s the sound of people who know exactly what they want, where they are going, and who they trust to get them there,” Kariuki said.
She added that the party’s campaign has continued to gather momentum in different parts of the constituency, expressing optimism that the growing support will be reflected at the ballot box.
“We are gaining momentum every single day. The choice of the people remains absolute, clear and unwavering: Sammy Ngotho for Member of Parliament,” she stated.
Kariuki also urged supporters to maintain peace throughout the campaign period and encouraged registered voters to participate in the by-election by casting their votes on polling day
The Ol Kalou contest has attracted national attention, with the race widely seen as a key test for both the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the opposition-backed DCP. UDA has fielded Samuel Muchina, setting up a closely watched contest between the two major candidates.
As campaigns enter the final phase, political parties have intensified their grassroots mobilization in an effort to win over undecided voters before the July 16 vote.
Political observers say the outcome of the by-election could provide an early indication of shifting political trends ahead of the 2027 General Election, making the Ol Kalou race one of the most closely followed contests in the country.
