Makueni Senator Fearless Sifuna has once again shaken Kenya’s political corridors after openly condemning President William Ruto’s recent State of the Nation Address.
The lawmaker, known for his fiery statements and no-nonsense approach, said he could not sit quietly in Parliament while listening to what he called blatant lies.
Sifuna, who was watching the speech live on TV at home, did not hold back. “Wakati Ruto anaongea uongo mtupu kwa bunge siwezi kaa kwa sababu hasira inaweza nipanda Wetangula anirushe nje. Hiyo uongo yake nilionea kwa TV nyumbani, Ruto akidanganya lazima niseme ni uongo!” he said, highlighting the tension between the executive and vocal members of the legislature.
The senator accused the president of distorting facts and presenting inflated achievements that, according to him, have no grounding in reality.
Sifuna’s critique did not spare key government projects touted in the speech, including infrastructure developments and economic initiatives. He insisted that Parliament should not be a stage for unchecked propaganda.
Political analysts say Sifuna’s candid reaction reflects growing frustration among some lawmakers who feel the executive has sidelined parliamentary oversight. “This is not just a personal statement; it signals deeper cracks in the relationship between President Ruto and members of his coalition,” observed a political commentator.
Social media platforms have since been abuzz with Sifuna’s comments, with Kenyans either applauding his courage or questioning his timing.
On the streets of Nairobi, from matatus to cyber cafés, youth are dissecting every word, with many praising him for speaking the truth even when it comes at personal risk.
As the debate rages on, one thing is clear, Sifuna is not backing down. His boldness serves as a reminder that even within the ruling government, there are voices ready to challenge narratives and demand accountability.
