Gatundu North MP Njoroge Kururia has dismissed the latest Infotrak performance survey, sarcastically claiming he deserved to be ranked as the worst-performing Member of Parliament in the country rather than third among the lowest-rated MPs in the Mt Kenya region.
The outspoken lawmaker was reacting to an Infotrak poll released on July 1, 2026, which placed him third on a list of the region’s worst-performing MPs with a 13 per cent approval rating. The survey forms part of Infotrak’s 2026 CountyTrak Performance Index, which measures public satisfaction with elected leaders based on feedback from constituents.
In a post shared on his social media pages, Kururia mocked the findings, writing:
“This guys are truly LIARS. How can I be listed 3/9 of the WORST PERFORMING MPs? I totally disagree with the research. I have done absolutely NOTHING in Gatundu North Constituency to be number 3/9. I should be ranked 9/9, the WORST PERFORMING MP IN KENYA.”
The MP further alleged that the pollster had also ranked him fourth ahead of the 2022 General Election, suggesting he has little confidence in the firm’s findings.
Kururia argued that the performance of Members of Parliament should only be determined by the people they represent, insisting that constituents are best placed to assess whether their leaders have met expectations.
He also accused external polling firms of operating as businesses, alleging that some seek payment from politicians before producing favourable rankings. However, he did not provide evidence to support the claim.
The Infotrak survey has generated debate across the country, with several legislators celebrating high rankings while others have questioned the methodology used in compiling the report. According to Infotrak, the survey was conducted between January and May 2026 and assessed elected leaders based on citizens’ views on accessibility, service delivery, responsiveness and fulfilment of campaign promises.
