Wilson Sossion has made his first public appearance at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) HQs in Nairobi, days after taking the oath of office as a commissioner.Sossion on Monday hosted COTU-K Assistant Secretary General in charge of Administration, Adams Baraza, who paid him a courtesy call at the TSC headquarters.
The meeting marked one of Sossion’s first official engagements since his appointment to the commission, where he is expected to play a role in matters affecting teachers and the wider education sector.
In a statement shared after the meeting, Sossion said his discussions with Baraza focused on education and labour matters.
“Today I hosted the COTU-K Assistant Secretary General in-charge of Administration, Mr. Adams Baraza, who paid a courtesy call on me at the TSC Headquarters, Nairobi,” Sossion said.
He described the discussions as fruitful, noting that they provided an opportunity to exchange views on issues affecting workers and the education sector.
Sossion also acknowledged Baraza’s commitment to the welfare of workers, particularly teachers who form a key part of Kenya’s public workforce.
“I appreciate his commitment to the welfare of workers of this nation, including the ever hardworking teachers,” he added.Sossion was sworn in as a TSC commissioner recently, marking a new chapter in his long involvement in education and labour affairs.
His appointment is expected to attract attention from teachers’ unions and education stakeholders given his extensive experience in the sector.
His first engagement at the TSC headquarters also comes at a time when issues surrounding teachers’ welfare, working conditions and labour relations remain central to discussions within the education sector.
