Police in Nyeri are searching for a police officer attached to Mua Police Station who is accused of defiling and impregnating a 15-year-old Grade 8 pupil.
The officer allegedly disappeared after taking official leave from his workstation, with detectives now working to trace his whereabouts as investigations continue.According to preliminary reports, the 37-year-old officer had been living with the girl’s mother for about seven months before the alleged incident.
During that period, he became part of the household and earned the family’s trust, making the accusations even more disturbing.
The girl’s mother, whose identity has been withheld to protect the victim, said she never imagined that the man she had welcomed into her home would allegedly abuse her daughter.
She explained that the family only discovered something was wrong after receiving a call from the girl’s school.
The information they received led to further enquiries, which eventually revealed that the teenager was pregnant.
Investigators believe the alleged offence occurred in late April.Since then, the victim’s family has been demanding the officer’s immediate arrest and prosecution.
They also claim the suspect has been trying to persuade them to settle the matter privately instead of allowing the case to proceed through the courts.
The family has rejected those alleged attempts and insists that justice should be served through the legal process.
The case has sparked concern among residents, with many calling for swift action against any law enforcement officer accused of abusing public trust.
