Gabs Salasya

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has once again left Kenyans in stitches after confessing he is still single and doesn’t quite understand how people end up getting married.

In a cheeky Facebook post on Tuesday, the youthful lawmaker shared studio photos of himself looking sharp, then playfully asked married men to reveal the “big secret” behind tying the knot.

“Chairman kijana boy boy kijana genz genz huu mwaka pia unaisha pia kama bado sijao waaah. Watu ambao wameoa give me a secret how you just realised ati umeoa. Muliambiana aje ndio mukafika kwa decision ya husband and wife. Am so interested to know about this thing juu naona karibu nabalehe kupata jiko,” Salasya wrote, sending his followers into a frenzy.

The post went viral almost instantly, with Kenyans trooping to his comment section to “school” him on matters of love and marriage.

Fred Sarinke Sururu couldn’t hide his admiration for the MP, reminding him of the electrifying reception he got in Kiambu at the burial of Kimani Ichung’wah’s father. “Yesterday I’m shocked, see you out of 250 MPs you the only MP people react and clap for,” he said.

But not everyone was impressed. Elam Justus threw shade at him, bluntly writing: “Wewe hata walio kuchagua sijui walifikiria nini kweli.”

Alex Mwanz, on the other hand, gave Salasya some “uncle-level” advice. “At most, marriage comes automatically. You just find yourself living with a woman, then she gets pregnant… so you just stay together, hence marriage. Later you make it official,” he explained, leaving other followers nodding in agreement.

Despite his late coming into the political scene, Salasya has formed a brand of ‘people’s darling’ in quite a short time. His fans insist he is the most entertaining MP of the 13th Parliament, always keeping them guessing what he will post next.
