On Wednesday, there was drama on the streets of Eldoret after a man was attacked by a group of people while trying to run away from his home with his children.
According to witnesses, the man had just had a serious confrontation with his wife before deciding to leave with the kids.
As the man was crossing the road to the other side, someone from behind shouted that he was a child trafficker. The loud scream immediately caught the attention of the crowd nearby, who quickly rushed to the scene thinking the man was trying to steal the children.
Before the man could explain himself, the angry crowd started beating him up, throwing heavy kicks and blows all over his body. The man tried to shout that the children were his, but no one listened at first.
After several moments of pain and confusion, he finally managed to say clearly that the kids were his biological children and that he was only escaping from a domestic fight at home. He added that he was heeding to his relative who is living far away.
By the time the truth was revealed, police officers had already arrived at the scene to calm down the situation. They managed to rescue the man from the crowd, but he was badly injured. The police rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Reports say that investigations into the incident are ongoing to determine what really happened between the man and his wife before the dramatic chase.
