Ruto Jacket

President William Ruto has made a decisive shake-up in the Government Delivery Unit (GDU), relieving acting director Lee Kyonze of his duties and immediately appointing Sitati Olando to take over the crucial office.

The announcement, made on Tuesday, signals Ruto’s resolve to tighten oversight within the unit tasked with monitoring government programs and ensuring timely execution of flagship projects.

Sources close to State House indicate that the move was influenced by growing concerns over stalled initiatives and lapses in coordination among ministries.

The President is said to have lost patience with what insiders described as “slow execution” of key promises tied to his administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

Olando, a seasoned technocrat with a track record in public administration and policy delivery, is expected to inject new energy into the GDU.

His appointment comes at a time when Ruto faces increasing pressure to demonstrate tangible progress on infrastructure, social welfare, and economic reforms.

Analysts view the replacement as both a warning and a strategic reset. By placing Olando at the helm, the President appears keen on tightening accountability while reassuring Kenyans that his administration remains focused on results rather than bureaucracy.
