Ruth Odinga

Ruth Odinga’s youngest son, Papa, has once again become the centre of attention after his humorous attempt to address guests in Dholuo during a public event left the audience laughing. The engineer accompanied his mother to the function, where he was invited to speak, but his struggle with the language quickly turned into a light-hearted moment that amused everyone present.

Papa confidently took the microphone and began greeting the crowd in Dholuo. However, after stumbling over a few words and pausing several times, he burst into laughter before admitting defeat and switching to another language. His honesty and cheerful reaction immediately won over the audience, who responded with laughter and applause.

The video of the moment quickly spread across social media, with many Kenyans praising him for embracing the situation instead of pretending to be fluent.Others joked that he had inherited the confidence of his famous family even if he was still learning the language.

This is not the first time he has gone viral. During the burial ceremonies of his uncle Raila and aunt Beryl , he also attracted widespread attention after delivering a speech that many said sounded remarkably like Raila Odinga. His voice, speech pattern and mannerisms sparked comparisons, making him one of the most talked-about family members at the ceremonies.

Many social media users described Papa as humble, genuine and naturally entertaining. Others encouraged him to continue practising Dholuo, saying every attempt to speak one’s mother tongue deserves support rather than criticism.

His latest appearance has once again shown how simple, authentic moments can capture the hearts of Kenyans and create memorable conversations online.
