A Kenyan man has touched hearts online after sharing an emotional message about the pain of returning to familiar places without the woman he spent 13 years building a life with.

Araap Korir shared a heartfelt tribute to his late wife, Casty Mems, reflecting on the emptiness he experienced while travelling without her for the first time in their 13 years together.

In a message shared on Facebook, Korir described how places that once held beautiful memories of their life together now felt different because his wife was no longer physically present.

He noted that although the surroundings remained the same, the absence of the woman who had made those places special had changed everything.

Korir explained that returning to familiar surroundings brought back memories of their companionship, including the conversations, laughter and everyday responsibilities they shared throughout their marriage.

He reflected on how deeply his wife’s presence had become part of his daily life, adding that 13 years of togetherness could not simply be erased by her absence.

The grieving husband also spoke about the way loss can be felt through ordinary things that people might otherwise overlook. He described how an empty chair, a familiar corner or an unfinished conversation could suddenly become painful reminders of someone who is no longer around.

Addressing his late wife directly, Korir expressed his intention to hold on to the beautiful memories they created together as he gradually learns to navigate life without her.

He also turned to faith, asking God to give him strength as he adjusts to the unfamiliar reality of living without his partner.

One particularly heartbreaking reminder of his loss is the bag Casty carried to the hospital before she died. According to Korir, the bag remains untouched because he has not yet found the courage to unpack it.

He explained that opening it feels like accepting a goodbye he was not ready for, showing how even the smallest belongings can carry painful memories for someone grieving a loved one.

Despite the pain, Korir affirmed that although his wife is no longer physically present, she will always remain part of his life story.

His message offered a glimpse into the difficult experience of losing a longtime partner, highlighting how grief can linger in familiar places, everyday routines and personal belongings long after a loved one is gone.
