In the midst the ongoing political tension within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on UDA-allied Members of Parliament (MPs) to prioritize delivering for their constituents over engaging in petty politics. During a parliamentary group meeting at State House, Gachagua emphasized the importance of focusing on creating and supporting policies that address the pressing issues facing their constituencies and the nation at large.

Gachagua’s remarks come at a time when he is reportedly at odds with his boss, President William Ruto, and several UDA MPs. The Deputy President has been vocal in his criticism of certain MPs close to the President, accusing them of engaging in premature campaign activities at the expense of their legislative duties. This accusation has led to a public altercation between Gachagua and various Kenya Kwanza legislators, further straining relationships within the party.

Despite the discord, Gachagua’s recent plea was clear: MPs should dedicate their efforts to fulfilling their mandates rather than being distracted by the politics of the 2032 elections. He urged the legislators to concentrate on initiatives that will have a tangible impact on the lives of their constituents, stressing that the success of the UDA party hinges on their ability to deliver meaningful results.
