Evangelist Lucy Wa Ngunjiri has called on Kenyans to stand in prayer as the family and close friends of the late Betty Bayo prepare for her final send-off.
In the morning message, she reminded the public that Thursday will be the day Betty is laid to rest. Her messge was calm, emotional, and centered on supporting the people who are hurting.
She asked them to remember gospel singer Shiru wa GP in their prayers. The evangelist explained that Shiru was still afflicted by the death of Betty. A photo of Lucy Ngunjiri and Betty’s Daughter.
They shared a great friendship, the kind that was felt through Shiru’s tribute. Her words were full of pain and disbelief, showing just how close they were, and how heavy the loss has been for her.
Evangelist Lucy also reflected on why people attend funerals. She explained that funerals are moments of unity, moments when people gather to mourn with people who are grieving, to stand with them, to carry part of their burden. She said funerals show solidarity and remind those hurting they are not alone.
Her message was informed by a verse from Psalm thirty-four, which says that God is close to the broken hearted. This verse, she said, reminded her that even in deep sorrow, there is comfort and strength for those mourning the passing of Betty.
She called on Kenyans to pray not only for Shiru but also for the entire family of Betty, especially in their preparation for the final farewell.
The evangelist explained that it is the days leading to a burial that are often very difficult; hence, this family needs support from all sides.
As the country readies itself to bid farewell to Betty, her intimate friends and relatives have remained steadfast in their reliance on prayer, comfort, and unity.
The call by Evangelist Lucy has added that significant voice to a moment replete with emotion, memory, and abiding love.
