Njuguna Waiguru, the firstborn son of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, has been in the spotlight after tying the knot with his longtime partner, Joanne Rodriguez, in a colourful wedding held in Naivasha on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
The ceremony was attended by close family members, friends and notable guests as the couple officially began their life together. Their wedding followed several months of celebrations, including their engagement and traditional marriage ceremonies.
Beyond the celebrations, Njuguna has established himself in the fields of technology, business and entrepreneurship.
He received his education at Brookhouse International School in Nairobi, where he studied Business, ICT and Mathematics at A-level. His passion for entrepreneurship emerged at a young age, with business becoming one of his key interests while still in school.
At about 18 years old in 2015, Njuguna featured as a speaker at a TEDxYouth event at Brookhouse, where he spoke about entrepreneurship and reflected on his experience of launching a business at a young age.
He later relocated to England to continue his education at the University of Salford in Manchester.
His business career included Something Inc., an ICT and electronics venture that specialised in customised electronic products and accessories. The company was also associated with initiatives such as Kila Kadi, an application designed as an alternative to traditional business cards, and Lion Arts, which focused on creative writing and illustration.
Njuguna eventually expanded into financial technology. In 2020, he co-founded Fingo Africa and took on the role of chief technology officer at the fintech company, which focuses on providing digital banking solutions to young people.
He is the eldest of Governor Anne Waiguru’s three children, with his younger siblings being Don and Wabu Waiguru.
Njuguna and Joanne began their journey towards marriage with an engagement ceremony in January 2026. In May, they held their Ruracio and Ngurario traditional ceremonies before celebrating their white wedding in Naivasha.
The wedding marks a new chapter in Njuguna’s life as he continues his entrepreneurial journey while maintaining a relatively private profile despite being part of a well-known political family.
