Police are searching for a group of armed youths accused of demanding ksh 500 from motorists along Waiyaki way in Gitaru.

According to the witnesses, the suspects who allegedly arm themselves with crude weapons demand ksh 500 to allow passage.

Addressing this issue, Police revealed that the suspects allegedly took advantage of the ongoing construction at the site to erect an illegal road block.

Police were deployed after a number of motorists expressed their concern over the alleged inaction from the police.

The incident sparked mixed reactions from section of Kenyans who took to social media platforms to speak on this.

Some blamed the government for allegedly using goons to handle demonstrators adding that these are the same individual who are now trying to make a living at the expense of other people.
