Nuru Okanga, one of Raila Odinga’s most loyal supporters, finally made it to Bondo to honour his political hero.
The outspoken Bunge la Wananchi member revealed he nearly missed Raila’s burial because he didn’t have money for transport. Luckily, former CS Moses Kuria stepped in at the last minute and paid for Okanga’s flight to Kisumu.
Since Raila’s burial, thousands of Kenyans have continued streaming to his grave at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Mausoleum, each leaving behind tears, flowers, and memories.
However, Okanga’s visit stood out as it was heartfelt, symbolic, and emotional.
When Okanga arrived in Bondo, he was dressed head to toe in orange, the colour of Raila’s ODM party, and wore a white hat just like Raila’s iconic one.
He was accompanied by his wife, relatives, and a few close friends to the gravesite.
In his hands, he carried a hen and two guinea fowls, humble gifts for Mama Ida Odinga, Raila’s widow.
The moment was captured on video and later shared online, warming the hearts of many Kenyans.
After the visit, Okanga posted an emotional message on Facebook. He said Raila’s passing had left a hole that could never be filled, describing him as a voice of reason and hope for millions.
“Kenya will never be the same without Raila’s voice and vision. He was a father to us all, and his dream for a just Kenya will never die,” Okanga wrote.

Raila’s son, Raila Odinga Junior, was touched by Okanga’s visit and his thoughtful gifts.
He posted a short video montage of their meeting on social media, showing the two chatting warmly and smiling beside Raila’s grave.
Many Kenyans flooded the comments section to applaud Okanga for staying true to his admiration and respect for the late opposition leader, even after his death.
Nuru Okanga rose to fame through his fiery speeches in Nairobi’s Jacaranda Grounds, where he often defended Raila Odinga and spoke passionately about good governance.
