KDF Military

Officers from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) have sparked positive reactions across various social media platforms following a heartwarming encounter with demonstrators along the busy Thika Superhighway. The unexpected interaction took place around the Roysambu area, where local residents and transport operators had staged demonstrations.

According to a video shared online, a convoy of military trucks—led by a specialized water wagon—encountered a series of roadblocks mounted by angry protesters. Instead of resorting to force or triggering a violent confrontation, the KDF soldiers chose a highly diplomatic approach. The trucks gently honked their horns as they approached the barricades, signaling a peaceful intent to pass through.

Moved by the non-hostile gesture, the demonstrators immediately began clearing the heavy stones and boulders they had placed on the road. The atmosphere quickly transformed into a celebratory mood. Some of the ecstatic youths were even spotted cheering, swinging, and sitting on the military truck’s bonnet as the vehicles slowly moved forward. A massive crowd gathered by the roadside to witness the rare spectacle, with onlookers ululating and cheering in solidarity with the military men.

This peaceful encounter stands in stark contrast to the running battles witnessed between the police and the rioters. The residents expressed deep admiration for the KDF’s professionalism, noting that the military has consistently maintained a positive relationship with ordinary citizens. Many Kenyans who reacted to the video online praised the soldiers for their calmness, reiterating that the KDF continues to prove it is not an enemy of the people.
