Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has sparked reactions online after running an opinion poll asking Kenyans who they would truly vote for if elections were held today, with a twist barring the Kikuyu community from participating.
In the poll, Ngunyi asked respondents to choose between Sifuna, Ruto, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Gachagua, while also questioning whether voters were more driven by development projects such as the Rironi Mau Summit Road or by the Ruto Must Go movement.
Results from the poll showed Sifuna leading significantly with seventy seven percent of the vote. Ruto followed at thirteen percent, while Kalonzo and Gachagua trailed behind with five and four percent respectively.
The poll attracted more than thirty five thousand votes within hours, with thousands more engaging through comments and shares. Many users weighed in on the results, with some expressing surprise at the scale of Sifuna’s lead.
Ngunyi’s decision to exclude Kikuyu voters from the poll drew additional attention, with some interpreting it as a pointed commentary on the ongoing political tensions between the community and the current administration.
The strong showing for Sifuna adds to a growing narrative around his rising popularity through the Linda Mwananchi movement, even as questions continue regarding the true drivers behind his support.
