Nigerian cleric Primate Elijah Ayodele has once again drawn attention in Kenya after predicting that President William Ruto will retain the presidency in the 2027 General Election. The outspoken preacher, who previously claimed to have accurately foretold Ruto’s victory in the 2022 elections, believes the President remains politically formidable and difficult to defeat.
In a statement released on Friday, February 20, Ayodele argued that Ruto’s chances of securing a second term are closely tied to the strength and unity of the opposition. According to the cleric, the current opposition remains fragmented and lacks the cohesion needed to pose a serious electoral challenge to the incumbent.
He stated that only a united and powerful coalition would have a realistic opportunity to unseat President Ruto. Without such an alliance, Ayodele predicted that the Head of State would comfortably secure another five-year term in office.
“Only a powerful coalition can remove Ruto. If there is none, he will secure re-election. With his re-election, the opposition will suffer, as he will introduce new policies that will shake the economy,” Ayodele said.
The cleric further claimed that a second Ruto administration could introduce significant economic reforms and bold policy decisions that may reshape Kenya’s financial landscape. He suggested these measures could further weaken an already divided opposition while strengthening the President’s political standing.
Ayodele’s latest remarks come at a time when political realignments and coalition talks are gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 elections. Political leaders from both the ruling and opposition camps continue to explore possible alliances as they position themselves for the highly anticipated contest.
