The Machakos County Government has officially distanced itself from comedian and media personality Sammy Kioko over claims linking him to a company that supplied staff uniforms. The controversy erupted after reports suggested Kioko had been pressing the county to clear a pending payment to the supplier.

In a strongly worded statement, the county administration clarified that Kioko has “no legal authority to speak about the matter” and is not in any way involved in the contractual dealings between the county and the company in question.

The statement emphasized that all communication regarding payments must come directly from the county’s authorized departments.

According to the county, the delay in paying the supplier was due to verification procedures and pending documentation that needed approval before the funds could be released. Officials assured that the issue was being handled internally and that no external individuals had a mandate to represent the county or the supplier.

Kioko, on his part, had earlier urged the county to settle the debt, noting that the supplier had waited for months without feedback. His statement sparked mixed reactions online, with some Kenyans defending his concern for fairness, while others questioned his involvement in a matter outside his jurisdiction.

The Machakos County Government has since urged the public to disregard any statements made by unauthorized persons, maintaining that due process will be followed. The unfolding drama has ignited debate on the role of public figures in government related issues.
