Netizens have been moved by fresh photos of the children of the late Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo, which show them enjoying a day out under the watchful eye of their bodyguard.
The images show John and Atara having fun at Total Ninja Kolonnade, billed as Africa’s largest inflatable and obstacle park, located inside the Kolonnade Shopping Centre in Pretoria, South Africa. The siblings were with friends and their white bodyguard, referred to online as a Mzungu, as they spent what looked like a carefree afternoon.
It remains unclear whether the photos were taken before or after Chivayo’s death, a detail that has added to the emotion surrounding them.
Chivayo was known to dote on his children and was reportedly co-parenting well with his ex, Sonja Madzikanda, despite their bitter breakup.
The bodyguard’s presence drew the strongest reaction from social media users, many of whom saw his loyalty as a tribute to the man he once served.
Sakhile Sasa suggested he should stay on permanently to protect Sonja, saying she needs him.
Wilson Katemauswa said he was happy to see the children smiling and thanked “Makhoti” for taking care of them.
Mércia Alfredo prayed that the siblings would grow in grace one day at a time, while Tau Harue and Mai Taku described them as blessed and said they were glad to see them happy.
Nyarai Wacho addressed the pair directly, telling Atara and John that all would be well.
The wave of messages shows how deeply the public has connected with the Chivayo family during a painful chapter.
Many well-wishers said they found comfort in seeing the children smile, surrounded by people who care for them.
